Father's Day

June 16th, 2018 | by Sadie Martin

"Do you know of any parent who would give his hungry child, who asked for food, a plate of rocks instead? Or when asked for a piece of fish, what parent would offer his child a snake instead? If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what's best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him?" - Matthew 7:9-11

A father gives their child the best things in life; their care, their patience, their time, and their love. Our fathers here on Earth resemble our father in heaven. They are here for us unconditionally and take care of us when we are sick. A father is always there to teach us how to succeed in this world; they show us how to work hard, and how to achieve our dreams. Our father in heaven is the exact same way, you just have to listen to Him and trust Him the exact same way you would listen and trust your earthly father. A child will reflect the love of their father; my father means the world to me, and everyday I work hard to make him proud. It becomes harder for a child to understand the workings of the Heavenly Father without the example of an earthly father. Andrew Murray said in his book, How to Raise Your Children for Christ, "Every experience of the love and blessing of a home on earth can be a ladder by which to rise up and get nearer to the great Father-heart in heaven." When a child is able to draw the parallels between their earthly and Heavenly Father, they begin to understand him more.

What are somethings that make your father special, and how do these characteristics reflect qualities of your Heavenly Father? Remember to show your appreciation for your dad this Father's Day, show him how much you love him, and have a wonderful father's day Day!
